Critical Thinking

Peter is exceptionally good at detecting fallacies, inefficiencies and loopholes. He is a deconstructionist. In other words, he can unveil and assess implied assumptions. He can suggest a new logical structure, highlight areas deserving clarification, rephrasing or editing, and propose alternative interpretations from a given set of facts.

These services are suitable for:

Those who write a report or other written material and want to get it reviewed before handing it over to their supervisor, client or peers.
Those who receive a report or other written material
and want to have it independently assessed (the emphasis is on logic and presentation).
Those who strive to polish their work, strategies or methods and would like to have an extra pair of sharp eyes to accelerate the fine tuning process.

Critiques are offered for:

Business reports, plans and proposals.
Policy briefs (no technical reports please. Peter does not have a degree in engineering or biology!)
Academic papers (journal articles, student essays, theses, etc.) The papers should not assume years of prior knowledge in their fields.
Fictional work. Peter accepts adult fiction of all lengths and genres. He also accepts rhymed poetry such as sonnets. He will examine a range of issues from pacing to wording, plots, characters, mood and tone, colours and metaphors.
Applications (jobs, student admissions, scholarship applications, etc.)
Informal writing pieces such as blog entries
Marketing materials such as posters, advertorials and testimonies

As a condition of using this service, clients have to agree that Peter's critiques are meant to improve the work, not to condemn or dishearten anyone.

Clients will receive a written report in English from Peter (output report) via email, but the work being criticised (input report) can be either English or Thai. Rates start at 2 Thai Baht per English word written in the output report. A minimum of 1,000 words is required, and this price includes 20-minute consultation (over the phone or Skype or MSN) per 1,000 words in either Thai or English. Note that extra charges will be levied for technical work, lengthy reading (relative to the length of the output report), and urgency.
